Welcome to Orange City
Orange City was established in 1882 and since has grown to be the commercial, medical, recreational, and shopping hub of West Volusia County. I encourage you to visit, live and invest in our growing city. People often tell me that they moved to Orange City because of the friendly small town atmosphere as well as the modern conveniences. Our proximity to I-4 and the Orlando metropolitan area to our south, beaches to our east, Ocala National forest to the west, and the St. Johns River make it an ideal place to work, live and play.
As a City, we provide many cultural amenities such as the 4th of July Celebration and fireworks at Valentine Park, Halloween Block Party in our historic downtown district, Christmas/Holiday parade and light up village, Movies in the Park, The Mayors Fitness Challenge in January to help you shed those extra holiday pounds, and other activities. For the seniors, we have Wava’s Hall which is always bustling with activity. Your K-9 will enjoy The Waggin’ Trail Dog Park with shade structures and restrooms for their humans. Mill Lake and Veterans Memorial Parks have splash pads to keep the youngsters cool on those hot summer days. Music lovers will appreciate the Orange City Orchestra that performs at the Orange City Library. Let’s not forget The Manatee Festival on the fourth full weekend of January every year at Valentine Park. If you want to see the manatees, that’s a great time to do it.
We are constantly trying to improve our city. Currently we are looping (re-piping) our water delivery system, we have some major storm water projects on the horizon, and have developed a CRA (Community Redevelopment Agency) to help revitalize our downtown area. Mill Lake is currently undergoing Phase 3A Development, soon the lake will be cleaned out and the mile long trail around it will be constructed. A new Public Safety complex is in the works to house our police and fire administrative offices. The nice thing about a lot of these projects is that they are being done with the help of county, state and federal grants.
I am so proud to be serving as Mayor of this progressive city. Everything we’re doing couldn’t be done without our forward thinking City Council, City staff (who are, in my mind, second to none) and you, the supportive citizens. Thank you for the opportunity to serve as your Mayor. Please feel free to contact me anytime moc.y1540109836ticeg1540109836naror1540109836uo@ri1540109836albg1540109836 or 386-804-7090.
