Orange City Mask Ordinance Update
On Friday, September 25, 2020, Governor Ron DeSantis issued Executive Order 20-244 placing Florida in Phase 3 of the State’s reopening plan.
Following the guidance provided in the Executive Order, the City of Orange City will not issue any fines to individuals related to non-compliance with the local mask ordinance that is still in effect. Prior to this guidance, no penalties had been issued for not wearing masks.
“We want our community to wear masks. Our local ordinance was never intended to be a mechanism to collect fines, but to protect public health,” said Mayor Blair. “Cases have been trending down and let’s keep it that way.”
The Center for Disease Control (CDC) continues to recommend that you wear a mask that covers your mouth and nose to help protect others from COVID-19, a disease that is primarily spread through small droplets from the nose or mouth.
